Mary brought this up as something to start thinking about: What's the best way to proxy items in the catalog? What are others doing?
Ideas?

Library Technology Reports, Reinventing the OPAC
I was just reading some recent articles in: "Library Technology Reports" in EBSCOhost. The new issue has some interesting articles regarding OPAC trends.
Reinventing the OPAC. By: Eden, Brad. Library Technology Reports, Nov/Dec2007, Vol. 43 Issue 6, p13-40, 28p;
The article cited above is a listing of resources (links, quotes and opinions) that discuss the reuse and reconceptualization of OPAC , i.e. “lipstick on a pig”. Other articles in the recent issues discuss other options such as Library 2.0.
Jul/Aug (43:4)—Marshall Breeding: "Next-Gen Catalogs"
Sep/Oct (43:5)—Michael Stephens: "Web 2.0 & Libraries, Part 2: Trends and Technologies"
Nov/Dec (43:6)—Brad Eden: "Information Organization Futures for Libraries"
---------------------------------------
This is a link for fun and is one of the sites noted in the article above. I am pretty sure that is a Voyager catalog in the YouTube video.
